Discover Marenda’s Story and how cannabis helped her fighting cancer.
My name is Marenda Lise Taylor, I’m from Campton, California.
My husband found a lump on my breast and I waited for like 2 weeks and went to the doctor and the doctor said it was probably nothing but just to be on a safe side, she wanted to have a mammogram. So, once I had the mammogram, it was not looking good at all, the doctor said it didn’t look good. They wanted to do a biopsy and that’s how they determined that I had breast cancer, triple negative breast cancer. So, once I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer, genetic testing was done, it was determined that I am BRCA1 positive. So, I carried the gene and this hereditary situation for so, at that point, I was told that I was really high risk and I needed to have 6 rounds of chemotherapy, a bilateral vasectomy and that I should also have my ovaries taking out.
Prior to starting chemotherapy, my husband and I did a lot of research online looking for alternative methods of treating cancer. Cannabis kept coming up, cannabis oil kept coming up and at that point I knew that I was going to do the chemotherapy and do what the doctor said, but I knew that wasn’t going be the only road for me, I knew that I needed also to do some alternative things. Because I wanted to give myself the best fighting chance as possible. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014, I am 2 ½ years cancer free now.
The way that cannabis oil and just medicinal marijuana helped me in my fight with cancer was several different things. The first thing was, from my research, I knew that a lot of cancer patients got really sick because of chemo and had to stop chemo or prolong their treatment because they got weak, because they weren’t eating, because they couldn’t eat. So, my goal was to not lose any weight, if I could gain weight that would be great. And I knew that my way to do that was with cannabis because it makes you have the munchies. So, you eat more and that was one way that it helped me.
The other way that it helped me was also with pain. I didn’t really know what I was in for in terms of cancer treatment. I didn’t really know that I was going to be in pain because when the cancer was found in me, I was not in any pain. So, once those treatments kicked in, I felt pain that I have never felt before in my life. The cannabis helped me managed the pain, it didn’t take off the pain away, but it certainly kind dulled it a little bit so that I could function because it was intense. So, it helped me with that.)
There is so much information on the internet that I went straight to Google. I was online looking for information, that was the primary place for my search other than talking to people. The Internet was where I searched on various websites. There was some much information but the information related to cannabis was just most compelling to me. So, that’s what I went with.
The most surprising thing to me about using cannabis oil was that I kind of expected to feel high and I didn’t feel high when I was taking the cannabis oil. However, with the medicinal marijuana on the other hand, I did feel high, I took in a tea form as well as putting in juices and I did feel high for a minute, but I was really surprised with the cannabis oil that I will feel a little high or a little out of source and I didn’t. I was able to function, I felt fine.
Find Respite From Intense And Extreme Pain: This Is SOOTHE.
I think the cannabis oil was probably most effective in terms of finding the cancer cells directly. That is just my belief, I really believe that that was most effective for that. And I think the edible and tea form of cannabis was helpful in terms of probably dealing with the pain management. I don’t really know because I did both of them and I didn’t separate. It’s hard for me to say which was more effective or which was better because I did them in conjunction. I didn’t separate the two, I did both.
What I would say to anybody who was dealing with cancer or any type of issue that cannabis has been scientifically proven to help with and that’s skeptical about using it, what I would say to you is put the skepticism aside and do it. Especially if you’re suffering with cancer and going through chemotherapy, that pain is unreal. It’s like nothing that you could never imagine, and you wouldn’t even wish it on your worst enemy. If there’s something that going to make you feel a little bit better that you can use, you should use it. Despite, whatever myths and stuff you’ve heard about cannabis. I am living proof, I’m here today. I am not like addicted to it or anything like that. It helped me get through some of my darkest days and it could help you too! Just try it.
For someone that is using cannabis for the first time, what I would say to you is, have an open mind and just sit back, relax and don’t even think about it, just do it. It is not dangerous, I am not saying go out and drive a car or operate some heavy machinery or anything, but I would just say sit back and relax and just take it. And just let it do what it does
